The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) Dr. Bashir Jamoh has reiterated that the floating dockyard acquired by the Agency would bridge the dry docking facilities gap in the country and generate revenue for the government.

He also commended the Nigerian Navy for providing berth for the facility and its longstanding collaboration with NIMASA.

He spoke when he met the Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Dockyard Limited, Rear Admiral Kohath Levi.

The visit was an assessment tour of the floating dock which had the backing of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC); the Commission underscored the likely profitability of the venture.

Jamoh said that efforts were in top gear to put the facility into use.

In recent times, the Federal Government has given approval for the Ministry of Transportation for the asset to be commissioned on public-private partnership basis, with NIMASA and the Nigerian Ports Authority tasked to to put it to use at the Continental Shipyard in Apapa.
